New Web Design Projects

Well , golf season is well under way and the good weather is here. Two other City of Toronto golf courses, Dentonia Park – a par 3 golf course located in the east end of the city ( Victoria Park Subway Station ), and Tam O’Shanter – home of the 2011 City of Toronto Golf Championship ( Sept 2011 ) have committed to having a website. Both sites will be completed by mid June and will definitely help to promote the golf course and the many exciting events taking place throughout the season.

The website will promote its many services such as golf lessons from its many qualified instructors and clinics for beginners to advance level golfers.

There is also free clinics available and the many tournaments which are held by the respective courses.

Dont miss out on this years qualifying dates for the City of Toronto Golf Championship to be held in September 2011.

Stay tuned of the upcoming launch of both websites.

STEP 1: Find Keywords

-Search Volume – Given two different keyword phrases, optimize for the one with the larger number of searches.

-Relevance – Choose keywords that your target market is using to describe and search for your products and services.

-Difficulty or Competition – Consider your chances for ranking on the first page of Google for that keyword phrase. Look at the sites ranked in those first 10 slots, their authority and relevance to search terms, and gage if you will be able to overtake them to secure a spot on that first page.

STEP 2: On-Page SEO

-Place keywords in the page title, URL, headings, and page text.

-Optimize your page description for maximum click-through-rate when your site ranks in Google searches.
-Place keywords in other “invisible” places on your site, including meta-keyword tags and alt-text on images.

STEP 3: Off-Page SEO

-Build more inbound links from other sites into yours. Each link serves as a recommendation or a reference to tell the search engines that your site is a quality site.

-Build more links within context, i.e. those with
valuable keywords in the link anchor text (the text that is hyperlinked to your site). Link anchor text provides context for the search engines to understand what your site is about.

-Build more links from trusted websites. Just as
references from well-respected friends and experts offer more value, so do links from trusted and well-respected websites.

-Link-building tips:
-Submit your website to directories like the Yahoo! Directory and Business.com

-Communicate with others in your industry through blogs and other social media

-Create compelling tools (such as an interesting calculator) and content (via a blog, for example)

STEP 4: Measure & Analyze

-Track number of inbound links, keyword rank over time and compared to competition.

-Measure real business results: number of visitors, leads, and customers from SEO.

The current website provided information on its product line which met the requirements and purpose. However, there was a large piece missing from their current website, which was how do the general consumer purchase and locate which stores within their local area can they get the product.

There was no online marketing strategy and they really needed to create a strong brand and awareness to its target market, which are women. There was a strong push to have their product introduced and sought after by its user.

Solution
Website Redesign and Developement
We re-designed the website to provide a more compelling experience and product centered. There was more product iformation and greater detail. to create a strong brand and message, we made sure that all creatives from print catalog through to website design, and all communication pieces that there was continuity and consistency in the message and creatives.

We also provided a much needed store locator so that visitors can locate the nearest retail store which carries the product line. This process allowed us to integrate and access retailers information on legacy system ( AS400) to display store information to visitors. The benefits of the store locator will help drive store traffic to their retailers and also ease of purchase for visiotrs to the website.

We created a blog for the product development team to start spreading and start communicating about thier product. With collaboration with the Communications Manager this was the start to introducing the products to their target market, but not only that, it is also part of improving the website search engine ranking.

Search Engine Optimization
Optimized keywords on each page relevant to the content. Site titles, meta tag description and concentration on the strongest keywords that best describe the topic of the page content. With collaboration with the Communications Manager, content was written based on keywords relevant to each page targetting strongest keywords early in the copy with careful consideration of unnecessary repetition of keywords ( keyword stuffing ). Using relevant keyword phrases as anchor text helps solidify search negine perpection of the relationship between pages and the words used in the link. While time consuming in the early stages, the results are worth the effort for more advanced future work. Timeframe for result and monitoring of ranking ranges from 6 months to 1 year.

Email marketing
With over 2000 approved retail vendors to market to, email marketing campaign on a regular basis was implemented. Used third party vendor, to distribute email campaign, for the purpose of promoting sales of new and existing products. Added a newsletter form on the website to capture email of interested visitors to receive on-going email promotion of product. Monitored ROI of each individual email campaigns through general reporting statistics provided by third party vendor and also Google analytics.

Social Media
Created facebook fan page and twitter account to help promote product offering and announcement. Promote actively as part of creating and bringing more awareness to the Time and Again brand, and improve customer communication. With the interconnections of individuals using social media this can only help bring greater visibility to the brand and image.

Analytics/Reporting
Applied Google Analytics to track and monitor website usage, visitor behaviour, new and returning visitors and much more. By having a defined goal and overall strategy, through analytics and reporting, we can now measure and see if we are achieving our goal.

Don Valley Golf Course
One of City of Toronto premier golf course.
Director of Toronto Golf Courses, Keith Chung needed a website for the Don Valley golf Course. I was surpirsed there there wasn’t a website for the Golf Course other than the links found in te City of toronto website.

Keith wanted a site which provided information on product sales and promotion while also providing important information about the golf course itself.

This website addresses sevaral needs which will provide it’s patrons current information about the golf course.

Now golf players can access information about the golf course online without necessarily having to contact someone via telephone.

Further added value service which can be provided and added on in the future could see an e-commerce component where online purchasing of it’s pro shop inventory can be made, newsletter to subscribers for upcoming sales, promotions, upcoming events, specials on clinics and lessons. Video will also be considered in the future.

This project was completed within two weeks from concept to launch. Project went smoothly and Keith provided the necessary information in a timely manner which made the project go into live phase in a short period of time.

On-page optimization and google analytics will be implemented as the next phase in order for this website to be found by relevant visitors.
